Families Into Your Restaurant

How To Bring More Families Into Your Restaurant

Whether you’re ready to share your family’s secret recipes with the world or are looking for a business venture that is both profitable and exciting, there are many benefits tied to launching your dream eatery.

However, it is also an industry fraught with competition, especially if you target families. Fortunately, this does not mean that you’re out of luck entirely. There are plenty of steps that you can take to bring families into your restaurant or diner. Read on to find out more!

Run special offers. Running special offers is one of the easiest ways to boost your restaurant’s appeal, especially as many people are struggling with budgeting right now. After all, this makes dining out (especially as part of a larger group) much more affordable. For example, you may want to run a special offer that allows kids to dine free or specific discounts based on the number of people who are dining.

Ensure your space is kid-friendly. Ensuring that your restaurant space is as kid-friendly as possible can also help to ensure that you’re bringing in your desired audience. For example, you may want to work with a company that specializes in commercial playground equipment to build an outdoor playground next to your restaurant. This way, children will be entertained when visiting your restaurant without putting any additional pressure on the parents!

In addition to this, you should also invest in high chairs or similar types of furniture so that families can sit together comfortably.

Develop a children’s menu. Developing a special menu for younger diners is a no-brainer when it comes to capturing the attention of local families. After all, they have comparably smaller appetites (and palettes) than their parents, which means that this is something that you must work to accommodate. In order to ensure that your children’s menu goes down well, ensure that it features kid-friendly staples in addition to smaller versions of the meals on your adult menu. For example, this could include mac and cheese or chicken nuggets!

Host family-friendly events. Hosting family-friendly events can also prove useful when it comes to bringing more families into your restaurant, especially if other restaurants in your area do not cater to those with children. For example, with Easter just around the corner, you could organize an Easter egg hunt or a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. This, coupled with a fun, Easter-themed menu is sure to capture the attention of local diners.

Ensure that you market your business as child-friendly. If you do not market your business as family-friendly, it can be hard for new customers to determine whether or not they should give your restaurant or eatery a try. As such, you should ensure that this decision features heavily in any of your marketing campaigns or web copy moving forward. One way in which you could achieve this goal is by sharing photographs of families dining at your space on your social media or publishing them on your website. However, you should always be sure to get their permission ahead of time to post these images, especially if they feature young children.

Train your team to deal with children. Your waiters and front-of-house staff play a critical role in the success of your restaurant, especially as they are the ones who interact with your customers face-to-face. As such, you should ensure that they are taught how to deal or interact with children during their onboarding training. This can help create the kind of atmosphere where everyone feels welcome while also making dining out a little more fun for children.

This also ensures that they are suitably prepared to handle any tantrums that may arise, putting parents at ease.

Be willing to make accommodations. Another way in which you can ensure that you are bringing as many families into your restaurant as possible is by being as accommodating as possible. For example, this could mean slightly altering a dish on your menu to deal with a child’s preference (or any allergies they may have). The more flexibility you showcase here, the better, as it once again simplifies the process of dining out as a family.

Ask for reviews and feedback. Asking your customers for feedback is a great way to figure out what you can be doing better moving forward. This, in turn, will make it easier to draw in bigger audiences. You can also feature positive reviews on your site, which encourages visits from others.

Final thoughts. In short, there are many steps that you can take to bring in more families to your restaurant, ensuring that your business grows from strength to strength as a result of this.
