Philip Wentworth: Helping Small Business Owners Sustain and Grow their Companies

Employer-based tax credits can be subtracted from the taxes an organization owes to the government. For many small business owners, taking full advantage of tax credits and deductions available to them is very important. Unfortunately, only a few business owners are fully aware of all the tax credits they can utilize to take advantage. Quite regularly, small businesses fail to save a significant amount of money by not taking advantage of tax credits.

With the intention of giving small business owners access to the same type of tax credit and expense reduction programs that many larger employers leverage, Philip Wentworth Jr., co-founded Rockerbox in 2020. It works to help small business owners and employees execute employer-based tax credit programs. Rockerbox’s primary mission is to help small business owners take advantage of several tax credit programs like Work Opportunity Tax Credits, Employee Retention Tax Credits, empowerment zones, FICA Tip Credits, and others. Using proprietary and automated technologies, Rockerbox can cost-effectively execute and manage several tax credit programs for clients across the United States.

The Farsighted Leader

Rockerbox’s CEO and Co-founder, Philip Wentworth, Jr’s primary goal are to help sustain and grow small businesses in the U.S. by harnessing the power of several employer-based tax credit programs. Although a young company, Rockerbox has already made a significant impact to help improve the cash flow for small businesses by successfully executing several tax credit programs like ERTC, PPP, etc.

Philip graduated from the University of North Texas in 1998 with a degree in general studies. Before his current position, he worked for nearly two decades in marketing and business development, with over 10 years spent in management positions. Philip received his formal sales training from organizations like Xerox and Prudential Securities. However, most of his professional executive career has been with startups and early-capitalized firms, including; AgVantis, WebCE, iTech, Vertical Alliance Group, etc.

Philip founded his first company in college, cleaning and refurbishing apartments and other multi-family properties. Later in 1999, he founded his first technology startup, which was the first variable data printing platform to produce press-ready PDFs automatically. At a later stage, he exited the company to work for a startup chartered within the farm credit system.

In addition to Rockerbox, Philip is a proud Co-founder and CEO of SWAY, a reputation management firm. He also serves as the Managing Director of Cadre Health and the Chief Revenue Officer at Proxy.

Client Retention is the Key

Rockerbox was founded with the mission to help every small business owner in the United States take advantage of various tax credit programs like Work Opportunity Tax Credits, Employee Retention Tax Credits, empowerment zones, FICA Tip Credits, and others. As the organization’s founder and leader, Philip recognizes that there are several ways to measure success at Rockerbox, and client retention is one of those ways. He says, “We have never been fired by a client due to performance. We have lost clients through mergers and acquisitions. Client retention allows our team to measure our programs’ effectiveness, customer service, and overall results. It also validates our mission.”

Preparing for the Future

As an organization, Rockerbox is planning to launch a payroll service in September to expedite the processing of tax credits and expense reduction programs. In the future, this will help Rockerbox access its clients’ payroll data and financial information to fully automate the execution of more than 60 tax credit and expense reduction programs. Publicly traded companies with deep pockets have their own tax departments that employ hundreds of people. However, many small and medium-sized businesses don’t have the luxury, resources, or time to research and execute these programs, so Rockerbox will provide these resources to small business owners using proprietary technology.
