Meet Kimberly Miles, the Founder and President of TPC The Payroll Company HR Consultants, Nevada’s most prominent privately owned national payroll and human resources management firm. She founded The Payroll Company in 2000, which was rebranded to TPC The Payroll Company HR Consultants in 2010, to tackle the problem of lost human connection and empathy that small and mid-sized businesses experience with a large payroll and HR company.
As the largest payroll and human resources management firm in Nevada, TPC brings back the human aspect of business solutions services and eliminates the HR and payroll pain of running a business. Since the organization’s inception, Miles has bought it from zero to million dollar revenue streams paying over 28,000 employees in over 38 states.
Miles is a speaker, master connector, commercial property investor, radio personality, philanthropist, survivor, and mentor. She founded the B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation, a non-profit organization entirely dedicated to supporting, sustaining, and empowering women under the age of 25 who are affected by human trafficking, domestic violence, and negligence. Miles also founded Miles 2 Go Vegas, a socially conscious action group that is trying to promote social change from within each individual and uphold the dignity of life.
She has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her long and illustrious career. In 2021, she was awarded the Soroptimist International Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women. A year earlier, in 2020, she was awarded, The Silver State Award for Humanitarian of the year, the Bronze Medal for the Governor’s Point of Light Award in Nevada, and the Stevie® Award for Women in Business. In 2019 she was awarded the Community Association Institute’s OPEM (Ordinary People, Extraordinary Measures) Award. Miles was also listed amongst the 100 Top Woman in Nevada Award in 2018.
Keeping it Going
The 2008 housing market crash helped Miles realize how strong business connections and support for each other can help an entire community tackle hard times. Since that realization, she has always preferred to create a disaster plan and back office procedures to help TPC scale according to its client’s needs. The organization currently employs more than 62 team members to support its products and services to embrace its current client base, and more.
She states, “I know the day-to-day hardships of business owners. I am one, but I am driven to help engage and assist others with their sustainability and growth. It’s OK to fall and need some help back up! I LOVE showing how we can rise above it all. It’s a state of mind, a lifestyle, and a blessing to be in business.”
While moving towards a much greener and better future, TPC is working to transition most of its clients into fully integrated online systems without losing the ‘personal touch.’ By providing various path-breaking solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, TPC is leveling up their efficiency and understanding in various other pertinent matters. The organization has also adopted a hybrid office model, providing the needed flexibility to its employees while offering more one-on-one time with its client base.

Tackling Challenges
“The pandemic made me a believer in ME! My plans were tested, and I PASSED!”– says Miles.
She made numerous improvements by always learning and growing as a person and leader, which helped Miles prove her sustainability in the market. She feels the pandemic was a very dark time for businesses and says, “I found allowing the FEAR to take over was not going to get me to the solutions I needed for myself and my team.” Eventually, Miles and her team successfully shared resources and experiences to uplift each other during the time of this unprecedented crisis.
Also, Miles encourages people to shop and support companies where they live, to create a stronger and more dynamic community. She adds, “I know Amazon is easy but having your dollars stay in your community means a better community and KARMA all around.”
Giving it Back to the Society
As a huge advocate of CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility, Miles believes her dedication toward Society has helped her sail through some of the most difficult times in the economy. She served on several boards throughout her life, but in 2015, she took a plunge and founded the B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation, which supports vulnerable girls under the age of 25. The foundation offers emergency services and housing to victims of sex trafficking. On the other hand, Mobile SHERO Sanctuary offers solutions for girls on the street by reaching into communities.
Suggestions for Younger Self
Miles started her business on her own as a single woman. She states, “I wish I had put my assets in place, owning a home I could afford and a car that was paid for earlier. Once I had accomplished this it gave me a positive cash flow to build my business since. I was not living over my income. I always counted on myself and made my well-being a priority. I knew that SLOW and STEADY was a sustainable answer.
It was never a race for me. I also wanted to uplift and empower as many female colleagues and employees as I could along the way. Offering us all a better life with more options. I learned to write everything down, thoughts, ideas, anything. I keep a pad and pen by my bed so that I could STAY CALM and JOURNAL ON on those sleepless nights!”
