Donald Trump set to become the 47th President of the US

Donald Trump set to become the 47th President of the US

In a remarkable narrative akin to a thriller, Donald Trump has taken back the White House, becoming the oldest person ever elected president at the age of 78. Transitioning from a business tycoon to a reality TV figure, and then to the first person in office to be a convicted felon, Trump’s journey has challenged all traditional political norms, and he appears to continue to beat the odds. In spite of enduring two assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign and facing a prominent felony conviction, American voters united in support of him, granting him a second opportunity at the presidency.

The former President is all set to become the 47th president of the US. In a major blow to the Democrats, Trump on Wednesday won the battleground states of Georgia and North Carolina and expanded his routes to reaching the 270 electoral votes needed to become the next president.

Trump’s win shattered the aspirations of Kamala Harris’s backers, many of whom were excited about the possibility of her becoming the first female president. However, the Democratic vision of a Harris-led administration was once more obstructed, as Trump’s steadfast supporters propelled him to victory.

During the 2024 election season, Trump faced numerous criminal charges, including a conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York. Despite his legal issues, he labeled the court’s ruling as “rigged” and claimed it was part of a “political vendetta.” In contrast, the Biden-Harris campaign contended that Trump’s legal situation exemplified the American principle that “no one is above the law.”
