HCL Technologies Limited is a multi-national firm that provides IT services. It is based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and is a subsidiary of HCL Enterprises. The firm began as a research and development project for HCL Limited. When the parent firm moved into the software services market in 1991, it was split off as a distinct legal organisation. The firm was created by Shiv Nadar and is traded on both the BSE and the NSE. It caters to markets all around the world.

Shiv Nadar and HCL

Shiv Nadar, who hails from a tiny town in southern India, is one of the reasons why India has become a hotbed for information technology and computer science in general. He is a Hindu who hails from Tamil Nadu. He is the chairman and founder of HCL Technologies, a company known for its information technology services. His professional career began in Pune, when he worked for the Walchand Group’s Cooper Engineering. He resigned his job after getting valuable business expertise and chose to establish his own. He was on the verge of launching one of the country’s most significant technical revolutions with the support of his pals and other business partners. Microcorp, a tiny company that supplied tele digital calculators, was where he began his career in business. He then went on to start HCL in 1976, which is now worth billions. HCL was founded with a little investment of Rs.1,87,000 in the beginning. He was able to take his firm worldwide, where he began supplying information technology services to Singapore, since he saw a growth in the information technology sector far before anybody else. Despite not having authority over the company’s management, he remained the company’s largest stakeholder. Shiv Nadar, a guy who has always cherished education, chose to give back to his society. As a result, he established the SSN College of Engineering in Chennai and invested over Rs.1 million in the company. Sivasubramaniya Nadar, his late father, was the inspiration for the establishment of the college. He wanted students to be involved in research, thus he formed several partnerships with international colleges that focused on research. He is also a great philanthropist, having established Vidyagyan schools in Uttar Pradesh, which provide free education to 200 kids in 50 areas. Returning to his firm, HCL became one of Asia’s top IT businesses, and Nadar’s liberal disposition extended to his staff, with top performers receiving incentives such as Mercedes-Benz automobiles and paid vacations- a move that caused quite a stir in the information technology sector. He is a well-rounded guy with a calm and pleasant demeanour that many of his colleagues and subordinates have picked up on. He has also been dubbed “one of the country’s fathers of information technology,” a title he embraces with pride. HCL has made close to $1 billion in profits on revenue close to $5.4 billion. He is married and has one daughter, Roshni Nadar.

HCL Technologies Ltd is also known as Hindustan Computers Limited, and it provides services such as remote infrastructure management, IT consulting, corporate transformation, engineering, research and development, and business process outsourcing. The firm has offices in 32 countries throughout the world. Its business sectors include aerospace and defence, automotive, consumer electronics, energy and utilities, financial services, government, independent software vendors, industrial manufacturing, mining and natural resources, life sciences and healthcare, media and entertainment, mining and natural resources, retail and consumer, oil and gas, telecom, public services, semi-conductors, server and storage, travel, transportation and logistics, and hospitality.

For specialist technologies and go-to-market strategies, HCL has formed partnerships and alliances with over 100 well-known organisations. Microsoft, Cisco, EMC, and SAP have formed strategic agreements with the company. Symantec, Oracle, IBM, VMware, TIBCO, HP, and others are among its key partners. It has also formed specialty alliances with firms like as NetApp, BMC Software, Teradata, and others.

HCL Technologies is one of the four businesses that make up the HCL Corporation portfolio. HCL Enterprise’s research and development wing gave birth to the firm. It was then turned by its parent into an independent corporation in 1991. Through this firm, HCL Corporation joined the IT services market. The parent firm, HCL Technologies, is responsible for a number of firsts, including the first indigenous microcomputer in 1978, an RDBMS, a networking OS, and client-server architecture in 1983, and a multi-processor UNIX installation in 1989.

HCL Technologies was founded as HCL Overseas Ltd, but the name was changed to HCL Technologies since it better reflected the company’s primary operations. It grew its operations in nations such as the United States, Europe, and Asia between 1991 and 1999. It went public on November 10, 1999, and in 2002, it bought Gulf Computers Inc. in the United States to extend its commercial activities in the nation. Its revenue for the financial year 2015 was $5.92 billion.

Apart from receiving international recognition for its “Workers First Initiative,” which aims to empower employees by implementing a 360-degree accountability policy, the firm has received a slew of accolades and citations.

The firm is implementing Project Samudhay, in which it has adopted 100 villages and is transforming them in areas like as water, women’s welfare, education, health and malnutrition, and sanitation. It is also affiliated with Udayan Ghar, a non-profit organisation that supports all-round community development. HCL Technologies also has a programme called “Go Green,” which aims to establish and implement a complete framework for sustaining green living practises.
