With a diverse background spanning from transactional support for multinational companies at Deloitte’s Financial Advisory Services to being a founding member of the Chinese-speaking chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization in Shanghai, Wayne is a well-rounded executive who oversees all aspects of his business. He is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Young Presidents’ Organization Global One & Sea Dragon chapters. Wayne also sits on the board for the Drucker School of Management at the Claremont Colleges, and the College of Business Administration and Public Policy at CSU Dominguez Hills, where he previously taught international business.
Recently, we got a chance to sit down with Wayne to learn how Powertec is changing the world of strength equipment with its innovative products.

Q) What makes Powertec different from its competitors?
Wayne) Powertec is the pioneer & leader in innovative strength equipment. Our brand name is highly sought after by both professional athletes & enthusiasts looking for commercial quality gym equipment that can be customized & expanded with extensive accessory modularizations at home gym prices.
Q) What are the major challenges of the industry, in your opinion? How are you tackling those?
Wayne) As the world shifts from lockdowns & health uncertainties, our organization needs to navigate through the economic & financial challenges facing rising inflation, political hotspots & a paradigm shift in the workforce. We are maintaining a flexible & responsive work environment while seeking opportunities to diversify our supply chain risk & monitoring our cost structures to provide the best quality products at the best possible values.
Q) How do you focus on Diversity and Inclusion in Powertec?
Wayne) We employ a diversely ethnic & gender-balanced workforce. Not only do we flatten the hierarchy & push authority to those who require it, but we also have constant communication with all team levels.
Q) How do you motivate creativity and innovation in Powertec while maintaining a healthy work environment?
Wayne) Collaborating teams consisting of outside partners and internal champions provide a healthy blend of institutional knowledge augmented by strategic alliances with external perspectives from working with others in the industry. This enables us to develop products that are suitable for the market in a quick & efficient process.
Q) What is your vision for Powertec? And how are you planning to achieve that?

Q) How is your company synchronizing with the latest advancements in the industry?
Wayne) Our manufacturing partners have invested heavily in modernizing their capabilities. We have also upgraded our processes to automate consumer interfaces with our back-office systems to provide faster response times as well as capture data that would assist our efforts in providing the best experience for our partners.
Q) What milestones and achievements are you most proud of?
Wayne) Providing uninterrupted products with high-level service during the COVID pandemic was a crowning testament to our team efforts. We provided a solution for the lockdown to those who needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle during uncertainty.
Q)What are your priorities in the next five years from a personal and professional point of view?
Wayne) The future has always been about growth; this provides opportunities for us to not only offer advancement to our team members but also expand assistance from our manufacturing partners, professional firms, & other constituents that can support us with our growth.
