RepeatMD started in the restaurant industry when Philipp Sitter launched VlPinsiders in 2019. VlPinsiders is a mobile rewards platform that Philipp built for his German restaurant and other restaurant concepts in Houston, Texas. As VlPinsiders began to gain traction, Covid-19 hit and bottomed out the business.
Around that time, an ENT friend who was opening up a med spa asked to use the restaurant rewards software in his med spa. Philipp and his team didn’t know anything about the aesthetic industry or if that would even be permitted, so they looked into it. After doing so, they determined that they could create a new version of the restaurant rewards program skin and launch it into the med spa rewards program.
Within 90 days, Dr. Ben Salento in Houston, Texas, got a six-figure return. He was the only paying client at the time and was thrilled with his results, so Philipp hired some industry experts and consultants and immersed himself in the aesthetic industry. He rebuilt the product and came up with a new brand called RepeatMD that launched in February of 2021.
Since its relaunch, RepeatMD is growing to the tune of 100 practices monthly with a team of over 50 employees. Approximately 1000 practices are using their software today. The company was awarded The Industry Aesthetic Award for Technology Innovation from The Aesthetic Awards in 2021 and has partnerships with three of the five largest medical aesthetic laser suppliers where every laser those suppliers sell automatically comes with RepeatMD.
Serving Clients Since Inception
RepeatMD sells various high-margin services for aesthetic medical providers. The company’s core clients range from plastic surgeons to dermatologists to med spas. It sells high-margin services by creating an individualized private-label mobile-rewards program for each practice that automatically incentivizes, upsells, and educates patients. Consider it like Starbucks Rewards but for the aesthetic industry. Instead of getting rewarded with a free Frappuccino, the patient might get a free facial. Patients also have the opportunity to buy a treatment, get financing, buy a membership, and so forth, all on their mobile rewards app.
A Steadfast Leader
A classically trained fifth-generation restaurateur, Philipp Sitter’s education was in the hospitality industry. He attended LSU and then the University of Houston for hospitality management. The first decade of his professional career was all about being a restaurateur. Philipp grew multiple restaurant concepts, opened franchises, opened a breakfast concept, and more. Since he is passionate about marketing and salesmanship, Philipp took a deep dive into internet marketing to help grow his restaurant brands.
Philipp entered the med spa and software industries using the software he initially created to help his restaurant brands. He found this industry that was booming during a time when all other businesses were crumbling; the height of the pandemic. He realized that his product is a perfect fit for the medical aesthetic industry because patients struggle with having education about or understanding of what treatments are right for them.
Transforming Patients’ Lives
With a fantastic team culture full of young professionals, RepeatMD’s mission is to transform patients’ lives. The software helps patients decide what treatment is right for them, incentivizes that patient, and informs them about treatments they didn’t know were available. Philipp states that “ultimately this helps the small business owner, which is the practice or the doctor that owns the med spa, dermatology clinic, etc., by assisting them in creating a better, more meaningful business.”
Picture of the Bright Future
RepeatMD’s goal is to be an end-to-end ecosystem for anyone looking for treatments to help them look and/or feel better. RepeatMD helps patients find their perfect provider, provides financing for their treatments, ensures that the treatments are accessible and available, and provides patients with the information necessary to find their perfect treatment.
Suggestions for Young Business Leaders
Philipp advises up-and-coming business leaders and entrepreneurs to get their team dynamics down first. He says that “you need to find a co-founder and hire people that really fill in the gaps of your game, if you have the opportunity to. For me, a non-technical founder, I have to make sure that I have a great development team. As you scale, you have to make sure that you have a great marketing department and a great sales team. It’s also important to make sure that you have a great COO or someone that can take care of operations. If you’re the company’s owner and/or CEO, your responsibility is to recruit people at a high level, have a clear vision, and then drive your team.” Philipp further adds, “I would say one of the most important pieces of advice is to make sure that you have a balanced team, that you’re focusing on recruiting, and that you’re okay with giving up some equity in your company to hire those best people.”
