Annalise Suzuki is a model-based interoperability expert, visionary leader, and trailblazer, dedicated to improving CAD-related processes and optimizing product lifecycle workflows. With over fourteen years of diverse management experience at Elysium, she skillfully combines strategic insight with cross-industry expertise to lead model-based technology initiatives and execute strategic customer engagement activities. Currently serving as the COO of Elysium in the US, Annalise Suzuki oversees the corporate strategy for the Americas market, influences the technology roadmap, guides model-based engineering processes and technology, and fosters long-term strategic partnerships.
The Genesis of a Visionary: Academic Pursuits and Early Aspirations
Suzuki began her academic journey at Salem International University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and international business. Her early career started in 2008 at Interlink K.K., now known as Japan Mobility, as a relocation consultant, supporting expatriates from all over the world that were assigned in Japan for 1-3 years. Later, she joined Elysium as an executive coordinator, quickly transitioned to product manager, and advanced through various roles to reach her current position.
The Distinctive Leadership Principles
At Elysium, innovation and growth are truly achieved as a team effort. This includes the teamwork and trust that come from collaborating closely and openly with each other and their customer base. Recognizing intelligence among all of the departments and fostering collaboration is a crucial strategy for achieving holistic growth together. Sales cannot expand without the necessary support and product development to sustain that growth.
Fostering Adaptability in Digital Design and PLM Markets
The team at Elysium is continually exposed to a diverse range of customers, industry events and initiatives, partner technologies, and standards movements. This ongoing exposure allows them to stay informed about current challenges and solutions relevant to advancing their support for customers and products.
Striking a Balance Between Nurturing Technical Talent and Cultivating Leadership Skills
Elysium is highly tech-focused and prioritizes technical talent. While leadership skills are also important, not everyone aspires to take on leadership talent. Suzuki recognizes that aligning the company’s mission with each individual’s strengths is what truly matters. The balance between technical and leadership skills will vary significantly from person to person, and that is perfectly acceptable.
Significant Challenge Along the Way
As COO at Elysium, Suzuki feels a sense of responsibility to lead and support not only business operations but also the overall mindset, culture, and motivation toward the mission of the company. She recognizes that the strategy to align the team may be different based on individual members and their motivators. Hence, she is actively working on understanding these differences to be as effective as possible.
Accelerating Elysium’s Growth as a Global Leader
“It is not merely our mission to scale. What’s important to us is being aligned with the demand rate of our customers and market, and we aim to grow alongside them by delivering valuable solutions,” emphasizes Annalise Suzuki. Another significant strategy Elysium employs is to maintain focus on its core competence to enhance seamless connectivity and integration. Given the highly technical nature of the solution, training new members and making them job-ready is not a menial task—therefore it is not the objective to sell beyond the capacity to support every customer with excellence.
Notable Trends in Digital Design and PLM Markets
According to Annalise Suzuki, the key factors influencing the PLM and interoperability markets include the digital acceleration initiatives spearheaded by the US Department of Defense and the adoption of standards as a strategy to facilitate industry-wide interoperability. An example of this is PDES, Inc., a consortium that includes major aerospace and defense OEMs, which focuses on ensuring independence from specific proprietary systems for data exchange.
Addressing the Hurdles in Complex Data Exchanges and Product Quality
Elysium is actively engaged in the standards activity of PDES and Cax-IF and also supports formats like JT, 3D PDF, and QIF. In addition, Elysium has responded to the growing demand for improved data quality. This includes support for characteristics, UUIDs, and persistent IDs, as well as the development of a PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) checker for identifying MBD (Model-Based Definition) issues that may pose significant challenges later in the process.
Investment in AI and Automation
The Elysium team is currently exploring opportunities in AI to identify the most impactful areas for leveraging it’s capabilities. They are using AI internally for some support at the moment and plan to continue this approach where appropriate. Automation has always been a key priority for Elysium.
A Look Ahead: Envisioning the Future
Because Elysium’s technology solutions are very granular and foundational, they are often unrealized by the mass users. Future objectives are focused on strengthening our existing portfolio and building awareness as those capabilities evolve—especially in the area of model-based workflows—where several practices among users and adjacent systems and solutions need to mature together for overall transformation focused on digital data. Annalise aims to grow value and usability this way, with a focus on existing customers as a top priority over expansion into new markets.
