Borea Construction commenced its journey in Lévis, Quebec, as Canada’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) service provider. The name Borea comes from Boreas, the Greek god of the north wind. Borea began as a partnership between the Quebec-based Pomerleau and the US-based Blattner Energy. In 1997, Blattner changed its focus to become a provider of renewable energy; prior to that, they were a national highway builder.
Marc Richard, Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Development at Borea Construction, embodying all the essential qualities, has been an influential role model for the entire team!
Marc has been at the helm of Borea Construction, since 2004. He is a highly accomplished individual with 35 years of experience in the construction industry. As the Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Development, he is in charge of overseeing daily operations and revamping the business to accommodate future growth. Borea has grown to be the largest renewable energy construction company in the nation under his direction. Borea has demonstrated its skill and effectiveness with 7,500 MW deployed on more than 75 projects, operating in Canada and planning to have the first contract in the US.
He is a civil engineer by training and was involved in the design and construction of a dozen private power plants from 1995 to 2005. He has a strong grasp of the risks associated with project development and is renowned for putting up successful solutions for clients. His integrative and participatory approach enables 250 management and 800 construction site employees to develop and perform in a stimulating and safe environment.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the renewable construction sector in a number of ways, including supply chain issues, project delays, and health and safety concerns for the Borea Construction project team. Supply chain disruptions were mitigated to ensure the successful completion of the projects. Borea responded to the concerns about health and safety by putting new policies and practices in place to guarantee a secure working environment and collaborating closely with customers to preserve satisfaction.

The renewable construction industry is constantly facing new challenges. One of the biggest challenges is cost inflation, with materials, labour, and equipment becoming increasingly expensive. Road Ahead: Constructing the Future
2023 will be a busy year for Borea! Alberta is one of the best markets right now for renewable energy, so almost all of the employees will have a chance to work in that area. With their new office in the United States, they also hope to build their first project there. They are constantly growing and the demand for renewable energy is only increasing so they will do everything to maintain their position as the market leader.
